the arts report
In spite of my tiredness, I enjoyed my art excursion tonight and I'm glad I went, though sorry I missed my second evening reading date with my sweeties in a row.
First I went to WCNY on Old Liverpool Road. They were having an art opening for Visual Arts Showcase #56 which had some of the artists I'm going to show with in August. I got there at 5:55 and it was supposed to start at 6 and no one was there yet--I guess you're supposed to arrive fashionably late. I had the gallery to myslf for a while and examined every piece two or three times, it was an eclectic mix and very wonderful. Lots of nice things that I really enjoyed. When the artists and their families began arriving, I went up and down looking at name tags and trying to match the faces with the work.
I left there about 6:40 and drove to Salina and parked and walked to the Y for the reading. The poet, Therese Halscheid, was excellent and very nice as well. The crowd was small and I knew everyone and was invited to dinner afterwards the with featured poet and 3 other poets. It was a nice dinner, though my food could have been a little better. I was really happy to be there though, listening to everyone talk.
I also enjoyed my walk at OLP Longbranch earlier, on the way down.
